The Creator

Picture
William Gough is a writer, publisher, director, and a mentor. He's won such awards as the Gemini, Actra, Prix Anik, Genie, Bijou, Blue Ribbon - American Film Festival, and the Columbus Film Festival’s ‘Chris Plaque.’ In 2011 he released "This Is What I Must Remember" the concluding volume of "The Terra Nova Quartet.". The quartet itself may be read in any order, including the order of release.

He's also an educator - having co-founded the St. John's Free School, and taught at UBC, Naropa, & VIU.  Currently he's a Creative Writing Instructor who teaches online for Vancouver Island University.
A lifetime of passion for Creativity and Learning informs his approach to Sonic Theatre.
We learn by hearing, we learn by listening.  There is so much to absorb through the ear, and through touch.
"Sonic Theatre is the gathering place for my life's work."
Thanks to Clay Lambert for his wonderful Graphics.  I also use some of my own paintings & various snapshots. Thanks to Caren Moon for her Photos & encouragement.

Sonic Theatre - MFB -The Approach

Picture
We're co-evolving an approach for those who are blind/visually-challenged to produce, write, act in, and perform ALL necessary functions for the production of Sonic Theatre/MFB, and all electronically distributed forms of performing in audio distribution.
And we're doing this with attention directed towards an evolution of the necessary training - based on the exploration of what we learn by doing. This is not a theory-first approach, but a learning from the environment & discovered in the process.  As we do this, we'll also pay attention to learning how to do this generate an income stream for practitioners. Creative rights are to reside with those who do the creating within the revitalized medium. As we create intellectual property we attach rights to those who create to the property. This will become, in addition to an expanding art form, a community of exploration.
We are sharing our idea with producers all over the world. Check back for our 2021 launch. In our OmniArtist project, which began in Denver & Boulder, Colorodo, we opened the path to a Trilogy of Books that are currently being developed as Movies In The Mind.  Prroduction will occur in multi-links for release all over the world.  We can do it all - audio was built for such a time - welcome to MFB.

Sonic Theatre- The Series

Picture
The Writer, Caren Moon & I are both working now on a Radio/Audio-Podcast Series that will give sonic expression to some of these ideas - and we know that everyone will find that, as the investigation continues, many ideas will leap into the world - all relating to our different life-experiences.
In Sonic Theatre, a geography of the mind, the field is wide open, and what may be achieved within the new technology is amazing.
There is no story that Radio drama cannot do as well as Visual drama. The roots of what is being transmitted and are based on the older tradition of drama told in the dark through sound.
The why of this exists in a new art form that's now-new because of the manner in which it is finding its way back to front stage, and because of the way that our friend's life threaded three main strings together - His Artistry, his Therapeutic approach in all areas of life, and his work with those visually challenged.
The therapeutic area is the natural area for drama and for comedy - it's where we go to empathize with what others think, feel, touch, perceive and then to connect in the ways that therapy, at its best, does - to connect and throw light not only on the subject - but on the light itself.

Sonic Theatre - The GRS Project

Picture

The GRS Project:

In memory of our friend Gary R. Snyder.  The Sonic Theatre approach is key to to the foundation that's being formed to remember Gary and his work in a project that would have been close to his heart.  Gary was a gifted therapist as well as Educator with the visually challenged, and this project will begin the evolution of a Sonic Theatre project for the Blind.  We're working now to establish the process, and work with the community to help establish this.  More on this later, and we'll keep you up to date about our sonic productions.
